Tasmanian made

Tasmania’s timbers are among the most beautiful and distinctive in the world. Grown slowly in our cool climate and ancient forests, species such as Tasmanian Blackwood, Myrtle, Sassafras, Celery Top Pine and Huon Pine develop remarkable grain, rich natural colour and character that simply cannot be mass-produced. Every piece tells its own story through its knots, markings and subtle variations—meaning no two signs or woodcrafts are ever exactly alike.

We love working with Tasmanian timber because it connects each creation to the landscape and heritage of our island home. Wherever possible, we choose responsibly sourced, reclaimed or salvaged timber, allowing this precious natural material to be enjoyed for generations. Strong, timeless and wonderfully tactile, Tasmanian timber transforms even a simple sign into something meaningful—an individual piece of Tasmania made especially for your home.

Sustainability is at the heart of how we work. Our Huon Pine comes exclusively from legally salvaged timber and historic stockpiles—never from newly felled living trees—while our Tasmanian Blackwood and Sugar Gum are sourced from responsibly managed, FSC-certified timber reserves. We thoughtfully select and use each piece, minimise waste wherever possible, and repurpose suitable offcuts into smaller creations. These remarkable timbers take many years to grow, so we believe they deserve to be treated with care, respect and purpose—creating quality pieces designed to be treasured for generations.

Sustainably Sourced

We source our timber through a trusted local timber yard here in Tasmania’s Meander Valley, which carefully selects wood from Sustainable Timber Tasmania and other responsible, ethical suppliers. This allows us to support another local business while knowing the timber we work with has been thoughtfully sourced, with consideration for responsible forest management, regeneration and the long-term protection of Tasmania’s natural environment. By choosing responsibly sourced timber and creating durable pieces made to last, we honour both the forests these materials come from and the people who depend upon them.

The Huon Pine Story

Huon Pine is one of Tasmania’s most extraordinary natural treasures—an exceptionally slow-growing timber that can take around 500 years to mature, with individual trees known to live for more than 3,000 years. During the 1800s, Huon Pine became highly prized by Tasmanian shipwrights, cabinetmakers and craftspeople for its fine grain, workability and exceptional resistance to rot.

It was shaped into boats, furniture and beautifully crafted household pieces—many of which have endured for generations, reflecting both the timber’s remarkable longevity and Tasmania’s rich woodworking heritage. Its beautiful golden colour, fine grain and remarkable longevity mean every piece carries a small part of Tasmania’s ancient story.
